Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance has earned national recognition for excellence in pulmonary embolism (PE) care, receiving designation as a Comprehensive Care Center and PE Center of Excellence from The PERT Consortium, a national organization dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with PE. We are proud to be one of only two hospitals in Southern California to hold this national distinction and one of 16 nationwide.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication of caregivers across our ministry, including teams in cardiovascular services, emergency medicine, critical care, nursing and pharmacy, who work together to provide rapid, coordinated care for patients experiencing this potentially life-threatening condition. The designation follows a rigorous review process evaluating clinical quality, multidisciplinary collaboration and patient outcomes.
"As a community hospital committed to delivering the highest quality care, we are exceptionally proud of achieving PERT Center of Excellence accreditation," said Rishi Kaushal, MD, medical director of cardiovascular services at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance. "This recognition validates our commitment to deliver transformative care to our community while joining a network of thought leaders dedicated to advancing and redefining the standard of care for this critical disease state that affects so many lives."
The designation also speaks to the trust our patients place in us. After experiencing the care provided by our PE response team, donor and former patient Julius Bogdanowicz and his wife, Barbara, made a philanthropic investment in the accreditation process. Their generosity helped make this achievement possible and will help ensure future patients have access to the same high level of care.
This national recognition recognizes the work of caregivers, physicians and leaders across our ministry who came together to earn this distinction. Thank you for your continued commitment to the patients and communities we serve.
