For years, Lori struggled to find answers. Despite closely following recommendations, she wasn't seeing the progress she hoped for in managing her weight and overall health. It was her gynecologist who ultimately referred her to Providence Center for Weight Management.
Living with juvenile arthritis and having undergone double knee replacements, she knew that excess weight made it harder to stay active. As a Scoutmaster of a girl's troop for Scouting America, she wanted to fully participate in campouts, hikes and other activities with the kids she serves.
"I wanted to be out there doing the things I love," she says.
She started the comprehensive medical weight management program in October 2025, working with Kimi Fey Powers, PA-C and with Chris Collins, RD, CSOWM, CDCES to develop a personalized plan that combined medication and nutrition support.
The team helped her navigate real-life situations, from making healthy choices during two weeks at Scout camp surrounded by typical camp food to maintaining her progress while traveling to Hawaii with her family.

Today, she says she feels "fantastic."
One of her favorite milestones came when she pulled out clothes she had saved as a "someday" goal and discovered they finally fit. She's now wearing significantly smaller sizes and has more confidence and energy to stay active with her family and her troop.
For her, the impact goes far beyond the number on the scale.
"My husband told me he sees the sparkle coming back in my eyes," she says.
She's grateful for the support she received from the Providence team and encourages others who may be considering taking the first step.
"It's scary, but make the call," she says. "I would absolutely recommend the Center for Weight Management."
As she continues working toward her goals, she's focused on being present for the people who matter most.
"I want to be around for my kids and the Scout kids," she says. "This program has helped me get back to living my life."
