Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, Providence Oregon has reached a historic milestone — raising $144 million through the "Tomorrow Starts Today" campaign to reimagine emergency and cardiac care for patients across the region.
This achievement represents thousands of donors coming together with a shared belief: Everyone deserves compassionate, world‑class care when they need it most.
“Raising that amount became a reality because our community chose to join us,” says Jennifer Burrows, chief executive of Providence Oregon. “Their support is creating a brighter health care future for everyone.”
Building the future of emergency care
Patients are already benefiting from modernized facilities designed to improve access and reduce wait times.
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center’s emergency department renovation finished last year, offering expanded capacity and a redesigned layout to streamline care.
Providence Portland Medical Center's renovation is nearing completion. The emergency department’s second floor is complete, and the main floor is set to open this spring.
Together, these hospitals will soon support 50,000 additional patient visits each year — the equivalent of adding an entirely new emergency department in the Portland area.

Advancing the next generation of heart care
Because of philanthropy, Providence Heart institute is constructing a state-of-the-art heart hub in Providence St. Vincent. Construction on the institute’s second phase begins this spring.
When finished, all critical cardiac services – including the Patricia Reser and William Westphal Cardiac Intensive Care Unit – will be co-located on the same floor, strengthening caregiver collaboration and advancing life‑saving patient care.
Already recognized nationally for excellence, Providence Heart Institute will serve as a model for the future of heart care across the country.
