Providence CFO Greg Hoffman announces retirement

March 6, 2026

Thanks to his leadership, Providence is well positioned for the future

RENTON, Wash., March 6, 2026After a decade guiding Providence’s financial strategy, Chief Financial Officer Greg Hoffman has announced plans to retire in June. His decision comes at a moment of strengthening performance and growing financial stability across the not-for-profit health system, which serves seven Western states.

“Greg’s partnership and deep commitment to our Mission have helped put Providence on a positive trajectory and set us up for continued progress. Though he will be deeply missed, he leaves our health system well positioned for the future,” said Erik Wexler, president and CEO of Providence.

Hoffman played a key role guiding Providence through the post‑pandemic years and the broader financial headwinds facing health care. During his tenure, he helped advance long‑term sustainability efforts, forged strategic partnerships, led the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system, reset contracts with commercial payers and helped Providence maintain strong bond ratings, supporting the organization’s ability to operate at scale and steward the Mission for the long term.

“As I take a moment to reflect on the past decade, I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have had the opportunity to serve our communities alongside such dedicated caregivers,” Hoffman said. “The people of Providence truly bring our Mission to life through high-quality, compassionate care every day. It has been a fulfilling journey, and I am genuinely excited about Providence’s future.”

Providence will conduct an internal and national search for a new financial officer.
