Transition into Practice Program Receives Certification from the ANCC

November 5, 2021 Providence News Team

Congratulations to our nursing teams! Providence Mission Hospital has been included in the Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) for our nurse residency Transition into Practice (TIP) program. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) only awards this designation to programs that demonstrate excellence in transitioning newly graduated nurses into practice and helping experienced nurses transition to a new specialty.

PTAP uses evidence-based criteria to award designations and is the global standard for residency or fellowship programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) into new practice settings. We are part of a multi-site residency accreditation with other select ministries in our Providence health system, including our other Orange County hospitals: St. Joseph Hospital and St. Jude Medical Center.

“We're dedicated to investing in our people,” shares Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Cord. “It’s wonderful to be recognized by ANCC for our efforts in developing the TIP program here. Our Mission nurses rock!"

The following specialty areas are participating in the TIP program at Providence Mission Hospital:

  • SICU
  • CICU
  • Float Pool: ICU, Telemetry
  • DSU
  • Cardiac Telemetry
  • Progressive Care and Stroke Unit
  • 3 East
  • 3 West
  • Labor & Delivery
  • Emergency Department Mission Viejo
  • Surgical Services Mission Viejo

Thank you to all the preceptors, educators, managers and leaders in these areas and throughout the hospital who work together to support our TIP RNs as they transition into practice, demonstrating our commitment to growing nursing talent in South Orange County.
