Spokane, Wash. — Providence is pleased to announce two longtime leaders are taking on new roles at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane.

Susan Scott has been selected to serve as chief operating officer at Holy Family Hospital. Adam Richards will serve as chief nursing officer for Holy Family Hospital.

Scott will oversee daily hospital operations as well as fulfill a community liaison function. She has more than 30 years of experience in health care, specifically in operational roles. Scott is moving into the COO role this month, after transitioning out of her current role as the executive director for perioperative, procedural, and cardiovascular services at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

As chief nursing officer, Richards will oversee all nursing services at Holy Family Hospital. He will create and maintain standards and systems to ensure a constant focus on patient-centeredness and staff and patient safety. He has more than 15 years of leadership and patient care experience at the local, regional, and state level. Most recently, he served as the director of nursing for Providence Holy Family Hospital. Prior to that role, he was director of emergency and trauma service for Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital.

As we mark the start of this new era of leadership, we are especially grateful to Sharon Hershman for her decades of selfless service to the Providence Mission. Hershman is retiring after 44 years as a nurse and leader, including 32 years with Providence.
