Covenant Health is proud to announce the opening of its new Lung Nodule Clinic at Pulmonary Associates, operating on Monday afternoons. The clinic aims to streamline care for patients with lung nodules and improve lung cancer outcomes through early detection and timely intervention.
Aligned with Covenant Health’s mission to provide a seamless continuum of care, this new service ensures patients are promptly scheduled to visit the clinic within a week of lung nodule detection in those at the highest risk. Patients will consult with pulmonary experts, including Dr. Benjamin Batson, Dr. Ximena Solis, Dr. Brian Williams, and Dr. Andrew Shakespeare, who utilize advanced diagnostic testing and minimally invasive techniques to evaluate and identify lung cancer at an early stage. In collaboration with the Joe Arrington Cancer Center (JACC), patients will receive quick referrals to support early treatment decisions and ensure the highest quality of care.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, more than 16,000 Texans were diagnosed with lung cancer in 2024. Early detection is critical, and having a dedicated team of experts available through Covenant Health’s Lung Nodule Clinic can help to catch cancer in its earliest stages.
Dr. Batson stated, “Early detection of lung cancer is critical to improving survival rates. Patients diagnosed at an early stage have significantly better outcomes. A dedicated Lung Nodule Clinic, like ours at Covenant Health, ensures that patients receive timely evaluation, risk stratification, and access to advanced diagnostics. This streamlined approach not only reduces delays in care but also minimizes unnecessary procedures, providing patients with peace of mind and the best chance for successful treatment.”
Since launching in June 2025, the Lung Nodule Clinic has experienced a high volume of visits, serving about 140 patients so far, indicating a potential expansion to extended hours in the near future.
Covenant Health remains at the forefront of delivering specialized and prompt care for patients facing lung health challenges. This initiative reflects their dedication to raising lung cancer awareness and promoting early detection through integrated care.
