New partnership with Refugee Artisan Initiative for custom scrubs

In this article:

  • Swedish recently partnered with the Refugee Artisan Initiative to produce high quality, custom medical scrubs for our caregivers.

  • Over 100 medical workers were fitted with custom scrubs and jackets.

Thanks to a new partnership between Swedish and the Refugee Artisan Initiative (RAI), a small group of refugee and immigrant women received training on how to sew medical scrubs and were able to produce custom scrubs and jackets for 100 medical workers. The Community Health Investment team provided the funding for this pilot program, which aligned well with Providence’s mission of serving all, especially the vulnerable, while also addressing ongoing logistical challenges our organization has faced.

This partnership has been a win-win for both Swedish and RAI. Previously, Swedish had encountered many challenges with procuring high-quality medical scrubs for their personnel and now RAI will be Swedish’s new supplier of medical scrubs. In addition, this program will create further opportunities for refugee and immigrant woman to utilize and improve skills already developed in their home countries and connect them with artisan job opportunities in the US.
