Providence oncology nurse practitioner receives Values in Action Award

Congratulations to Providence Cancer Institute - Willamette Falls oncology nurse practitioner Jamie Zilverberg, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, for receiving the 2024 Providence Values in Action Award. Jamie was one of just ten caregivers selected for this prestigious award.

The Values in Action Award is the highest honor given at Providence St. Joseph Health, allowing caregivers to recognize each other for how they go above and beyond to model our five core values: Compassion, Dignity, Justice, Excellence and Integrity.

Words of praise for Jamie’s nomination

Here are some of the things Jamie’s peers say about her:

“Jamie is the epitome of 'right thing for the right reason.' There are multiple times a week that she is in the office late while on the phone with a patient, replying to their MyChart messages, or refilling prescriptions because it is the right thing to do for the patient.”

“Jamie is a warm and welcoming presence in the clinic. You always know where she is in the clinic by the sound of her laugh.”

“During a rapid response debrief Jamie was the calming presence for the clinic. She was there to reassure all who were involved that they did the correct thing for the patient. During this stressful learning experience Jamie made sure every caregiver had their concerns heard and understood -- no matter how small their concerns seemed. She was there to check in on caregivers as well as the patient.”

“Jamie is the rock of our clinic, the go-to person, the one who remembers birthdays and laughs down the hall. I believe that Jamie is the epitome of Providence values.”

Jamie’s manager Roxanne Griswold agrees with the accolades Jamie has received from her peers.  She has personally witnessed the connection Jamie makes with her patients and fellow caregivers.

“I see Jamie as an oncology nurse practitioner, a role I believe she was meant to live – caring for patients in such a comforting way, listening to patient concerns and offering any help that she can.”
