Guest speaker, David Chen, M.D., thoracic surgeon, Providence Cancer Institute, will discuss the US Preventative Services Task Force lung cancer screening guidelines, identify strategies for prevention of lung cancer, and explain the updated forms of treatment for lung cancer.
About Dr. David Chen
Dr. Chen completed training in general surgery at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, followed by cardiothoracic surgery at New York University Medical Center. His training was focused on utilizing the robotic surgery platform for a variety of thoracic health issues.
Dr. Chen completed a fellowship in surgical oncology and cancer immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. During this time, he focused his efforts on applying T-cell receptor gene therapy toward solid tumors, including lung cancer.
With this experience, Dr. Chen takes a holistic approach to treating patients with cancer - using the most advanced techniques in surgery and in the laboratory to provide the best possible care for his patients.
