Valero donates $5,000 to Providence Health & Services' Creating Opportunities for Physical Activity (COPA) program

December 9, 2015

WILMINGTON (Dec. 2, 2015) – Providence Health & Services’ COPA – Creating Opportunities for Physical Activity – received $5,000 from Valero to provide after-school activity programs for children in Wilmington. This is the third consecutive year Valero has provided funding for COPA.

COPA partners with schools and community organizations in some of the South Bay’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods. COPA team members work side-by-side with teachers, students, and parents to improve Physical Education instruction and opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating at elementary schools.

The donations are proceeds from the 2015 Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children Golf Classic, one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments on the PGA Tour, held earlier this year in San Antonio.

For the 13th consecutive year, the 2015 Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children Golf Classic resulted in a successful fundraiser and will provide an outstanding contribution to hundreds of children's charities throughout Valero’s nationwide business region. Locally, Valero officials announced they would distribute $230,000 of the tournament proceeds to benefit 16 Harbor area children’s organizations.
