The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment at St. Joseph Hospital has received nationally recognized re-accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) for The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment and received with special commendation in six standards of care. The CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

“This nationally esteemed accreditation is a reflection of the ongoing commitment from our hospital’s medical staff and caregivers,” said Tom Hill, Chief Operating Officer. “Having our standards of care reviewed favorably by the American College of Surgeons is indicative of the quality of care we deliver.”

The success of the cancer care program is based on its multidisciplinary approach, which includes the expertise of board-certified medical, surgical and radiation oncologists and plastic surgeons, hematologists, pathologists, technicians, therapists, cancer navigators, researchers, rehabilitation therapists, nutritionists, social workers, case managers and spiritual care providers who all work together to customize a treatment plan for each patient.
