Providence Alaska names new executive director of Strategy and Business Development

Carissa Silva will lead efforts to shape Alaska region strategy for both acute and ambulatory care  

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Carissa Silva has been named the new executive director of Strategy and Business Development for the Providence Alaska region.

In this role, Silva will support the strategic vision of the Alaska region. This includes responsibility for working with region leaders to create the region’s strategy for both acute and ambulatory care.

Carissa brings a wealth of health care experience to this role. Her background includes work in strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions, cultivating relationships with providers and insurance companies, and clinical leadership.

Her previous role was program manager of Business Development & Strategy for Providence Alaska. In this role she led work on the Alaska Integrated Strategic & Financial Plan (ISFP) and Alaska Integrated Market Planning. She joined Providence in 2012 as a nurse at Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC). In 2015, Carissa was promoted to assistant clinical manager of the Intensive Care Unit at PAMC, where among her accomplishments was collaborating with providers to implement a Lean Management system which led to measurable improvement in staff engagement.

Carissa earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
