The Providence Youth Behavioral Health Center expands in-state access to psychiatric treatment for adolescents ages 12-17
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — As part of its commitment to expanding access to behavioral health services, Providence Alaska will open the Providence Youth Behavioral Health Center in Anchorage later this fall.
The Providence Youth Behavioral Health Center is a Level 5 Residential Psychiatric Treatment Center serving adolescents ages 12–17 who require 24-hour psychiatric care, with typical stays ranging from 30 to 60 days based on individual needs.
The 16-bed facility supports at-risk youth who need intensive, structured treatment in a residential setting to:
— Stay safe and maintain stability
— Develop healthy coping and self-regulation skills
— Successfully transition back into home, school and community settings without prolonged residential placement
“The Providence Youth Behavioral Health Center provides an important level of care for Alaska youth and their families,” said Carla MacGregor, LPC, senior director of Behavioral Health, Providence Alaska. “This center reflects our commitment to ensuring young people have access to the specialized psychiatric care they need close to home. By coordinating with our broader behavioral health services, it strengthens the continuum of care and helps connect adolescents to the right support at the right time.”
Residents participate in a structured daily schedule with active staff engagement, as well as clinician-led group therapies that support emotional regulation and community reintegration. The center also includes an intensive family education program focused on communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution to strengthen family functioning.
