U.S. News & World Report recognizes hospital’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC) has once again been recognized as the top health care provider in Alaska in the U.S. News & World Report 2022-2023 Best Hospitals rankings.

U.S. News & World Report rated the hospital as high performing in one adult specialty and six procedures and conditions, more than any other hospital in the state. PAMC was honored for providing high-quality care in the following categories:

Adult Specialty

  • Pulmonology & Lung Surgery

Procedures and Conditions

  • Heart Attack
  • Heart Failure
  • Kidney Failure
  • Stroke
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Pneumonia

PAMC was also recognized in each of these categories in 2021.

“Our caregivers work hard to ensure that when people come to our hospital, they can feel confident they are receiving the best care possible,” said Ella Goss, MSN, RN, chief executive, Providence Alaska Medical Center, and incoming chief executive for the Providence Alaska region beginning Sept. 1. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing Alaskans great care that is close to home.”

Now in its 33rd year, Best Hospitals evaluates hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical services. The Best Hospitals methodology and Procedures & Conditions methodology factor objective measures such as survival rates, patient experience, level of nursing care and how successfully each hospital helps patients get back home.

“For patients considering their options for where to get care, the Best Hospitals rankings are designed to help them and their medical professionals identify hospitals that excel in the kind of care they may need,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News.

This year’s rankings will be published in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2023” guidebook. For more information, visit Best Hospitals or use #BestHospitals to search on Facebook and Twitter.
