Groupthink and Caregivers' Projections: Addressing Barriers to Empathy

Some have described these errors as resulting from “groupthink” in which team members have reasons to share group misperceptions. The problem is not lack of caring but rather difficulty in maintaining perspective during a conflict. Reflective self-awareness and empathic curiosity can help overcome such challenges and improve patient care.
