Providence Lactation and Postpartum Clinic Everett supports every feeding goal, not just breastfeeding

Whether new parents had their baby in a hospital setting or at home, there is a shared experience when the last midwife heads out or the nurses hand you your child and finally send you home.
A sudden realization that despite how prepared you felt before, you don’t feel nearly as prepared as you would like.
“Motherhood is no cakewalk and too many parents feel alone in those early months, but feeding is one part of the experience that we can help them with,” says Anitra Suchan, MSN, RNC-MNN, C-EFM, assistant nurse manager of obstetrical services at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
Operating seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on holidays, the Providence Lactation and Postpartum Clinic is staffed entirely by nurses certified as International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, the sole internationally recognized credential in lactation care.
Anitra Suchan, MSN, RNC-MNN, C-EFM, leads the Lactation and Postpartum Clinic team at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
Families with infants at any age or stage are welcomed at the clinic, where the team assesses concerns such as potential lip ties that can impact feeding and latching. Interpreter services covering over 200 languages are available to guarantee clear communication for every family.
“We want families to know they don’t have to figure it all out on their own,” Suchan says. “Our lactation specialists are here to support parents every step of the way.”
Although lactation care remains the clinic’s central focus, it provides a welcoming, compassionate environment to assist parents throughout their unique postpartum journey.
“We partner with parents to meet their feeding goals,” Suchan says. “Whether they would like support to increase their milk supply or navigate challenges with bottle feeding, we can provide individualized guidance and practical solutions to help them and their baby succeed.”
The Providence Lactation and Postpartum Clinic in Everett offers breastfeeding and postpartum support for parents.
The clinic also runs a mother’s milk donation program, the first in Washington when it opened in 2012. Some donors are mothers whose supply outpaces what their own baby needs.
Others are mothers whose babies did not come home and who choose to let their milk go to an infant who needs it. All donations are received the same way, through Northwest Mothers Milk Bank, with an interview, a health screening and blood work.
Every donation is weighed and carefully tracked. Donors scan a QR code when dropping off their milk, which notifies Northwest Mothers Milk Bank of our location so it can be safely collected and transported for processing.
