Standing Together: National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
TRICARE and US Family Health Plan Northwest are committed to providing support. As your partner in mental health, TRICARE covers a wide range of services—from outpatient counseling and telehealth appointments to inpatient treatment—without referral for Prime beneficiaries. Whether you’re a service member, family member, or retiree, you have access to confidential care.
Crisis Support Is Always Available
If you or someone you know is in crisis:
· Call the Military Crisis Line by dialing 988, then press 1—or text 838255, or chat online.
· If you’re overseas, start with online chat to find local dialing options.
· In emergency situations, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
The Military Crisis Line operates 24/7, staffed by trained counselors familiar with military life, ensuring that support feels relevant and accessible.
Strength in Connection
Programs like the Wingman Project’s ACE model—Ask, Care, Escort—equip peers and family members to intervene when someone’s at risk. It’s the little acts—checking in, listening, letting someone know you care—that can create lifesaving bonds.
Proactive Self‑Care & Support
Use Suicide Prevention Month to reinforce healthy routines: stay active, maintain sleep and nutrition, avoid alcohol misuse, and build your support network. If life changes are looming—like a PCS move—reach out early to your USFHPNW provider to update or renew your mental health care plan.
· TRICARE mental health services include outpatient and residential care through your plan.
· Tele‑mental health offers remote access for convenience and privacy.
· Military OneSource and Real Warriors offer additional non-medical support.
