Walla Walla, WA—Providence St. Mary Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of our friends, family and neighbors through support of programs, equipment and capital projects at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, the Foundation is able to help enhance and advance programs and services for the health care needs of our community, creating a healthier community, together.
From a $4.99 medication to a $400,000 contribution towards the Family Birth Center, more than $1.2 million has been invested in Providence St. Mary Medical Center in 2018.
“As the only health care Foundation in our Valley, donors can be assured that Providence St. Mary Foundation offers the best way to invest in meeting the current and future health care needs of our community,” said Lindsey Oldridge, chief development officer. “We are humbled and grateful for the community’s continued support which, this year, provided everything from a $5.99 prescription for a patient in need to a $400,000 investment in moms and babies through our Family Birth Center.”
Together, with support from our donors, Providence St. Mary Foundation has:
- Promoted the early detection of breast cancer by providing more than 180 uninsured women in need with a free screening mammogram.
- Funded an innovative certified nursing assistant in-house certification pilot program in partnership with Walla Walla Community College.
- Helped our most vulnerable patients through an assistance fund which pays for gas cards, rent, utilities and other urgent expenses not covered by insurance. This fund removes barriers so patients may focus on living through and beyond their disease.
- Invested in moms and babies. Our most recent fundraising priority helped expand the special care nursery, add labor and delivery rooms and build a dedicated surgical suite for C-sections within the Family Birth Center, avoiding an elevator trip for mom and baby when minutes matter most.
- Promoted safe sleep practices for more than 750 newborns. Generous donations ensure every baby leaves the hospital with a SleepSack, a wearable blanket to replace loose blankets in the crib and encourage safe sleeping at home.
- Invested in critical equipment to support exceptional local health care. Philanthropy recently funded a new medical imaging device, known as a C-Arm for the operating room, two endoscopes and two colonoscopes and several pieces of technology to improve the patient experience for those who receive a cancer diagnosis.
