Virtual pediatric grand rounds: gender dysphoria for pediatric primary care providers

Carla McKelvey, M.D., and Providence Children’s Health recently hosted a virtual educational offering with  pediatric endocrinologist Marcie Drury Brown, M.D.,  and health psychologist Jeri Turgesen, Psy.D.

Drs. Drury Brown and Turgesen reviewed potential medical and mental health disparities and risks faced by this population. They discussed how early identification and affirmation of gender identity is essential to engaging supports and promoting positive mental health outcomes. Approaches and options for care available to transgender and gender diverse youth and their families were shared.
