In August, Areo Saffarzadeh, M.D., thoracic surgeon and director of Thoracic Robotic Surgery at Providence Cancer Institute, led a free talk to help deepen our understanding of lung cancer. The event was hosted by Asian Cancer Resource & Support Services and Providence Cancer Institute.

This was a free event open to patients, caregivers and health care professionals.

About Dr. Saffarzadeh

Dr. Areo Saffarzadeh is a thoracic surgeon and director of Thoracic Robotic Surgery at Providence Cancer Institute. He completed residency and fellowship training in thoracic surgery at Yale University after attending medical school at UC Irvine. Dr. Saffarzadeh specializes in minimally invasive surgery in the chest using robotic surgery. He has authored numerous publications and given presentations around the country on robotic chest surgery and methods to improve accurate diagnosis and outcomes in cancer treatment using new technologies.
