Providence has been dealing with the coronavirus for three months now, being the first health system to treat COVID-19. Althought Washington state was the first to have an outbreak, it is no longer the epicenter in the U.S. and as of April 19, only have had 91 new hospitalizations. Dr. Rod Hochman recounts the lessons learned from the initial days of the pandemic.

The U.S. needs to manufacture more critical medical supplies and pharmaceuticals domestically.
Capacity – there needs to be hospital beds available in surge facilities.
Health systems needs to approach primary care differently and consider more virtual care.
