Providence St. Patrick Hospital receives 5 Star Rating for Hospital Quality from CMS

Providence St. Patrick Hospital received a 5 Star Rating for Hospital Quality Star for 2023 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This is the 14th consecutive 5-Star Rating for the hospital. This highest achievable rating signifies the exceptional level of quality and safe care provided within St. Pat’s.

CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals annually based on 46 hospital quality measures. These are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates and timely and effective care. Data reporting periods range from July 2018 to March 2022, depending on the measure.

Dr. James McKay, Chief Medical Officer of Providence Montana, said, “We are incredibly proud of this honor. Our caregivers work diligently and focus continually on quality improvement for the safety of our patients. These type of recognitions and achievements are not ones earned by the work of an individual or a small group, but through the commitment of the entire team.”

CMS awarded 481 hospitals nationwide with its top rating. The hospital data can be found on the CMS Hospital Compare website.
