After an extensive national search, William J. Calhoun (Bill), MBA, FACHE, has accepted the role of Chief Executive for the Providence Montana Service Area, which includes Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, and Providence Medical Clinics throughout Western Montana.
Mr. Calhoun joins the Providence family following a lengthy health care career, most recently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Kearney Regional Medical Center located in Kearney, Nebraska. Bill is a dynamic, values-driven leader who has exceptional strategic capabilities and proven operational effectiveness.
Bill is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and advanced training in health care administration from the University of Wisconsin – Superior.
With more than two decades of experience with health systems in Nebraska, Florida and Wisconsin, Bill is thrilled to be joining the talented Providence Montana team. He says, “More than half of my career has been dedicated to faith-based health care. The Mission of Providence is inspiring, and I look forward to using my experiences to serve Western Montana, just as Providence St. Patrick Hospital has done for 150 years.”
Bill and his wife, Patti, will make Missoula their new home, continuing, “My wife and I love Montana and all that this great state has to offer, and we are excited to engage in our local community. It has been a wonderful experience getting to know the people I have met along the way, and I cannot think of a better place to take the next major step in my personal and professional journey.”
