A generous gift from Marianna and David Fisher means Providence Saint John’s orthopedic nurses will have the opportunity to enhance their skills through a new Orthopedic Nursing Certification Program. The program helps orthopedic nurses advance their specialty skills, such as caring for patients with joint replacement, spine disorders, degenerative joint disease and inflammatory disease. Nurses in the program will also receive extra training in sports injuries, orthopedic trauma and musculoskeletal tumors. The addition of ortho-certified nurses brings Saint John’s closer to achieving American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition®, the highest and most prestigious international distinction a health care organization or hospital can receive for nursing excellence and outstanding patient care. Considered the “gold standard” for nursing services, Magnet Recognition acknowledges that patients are receiving the highest quality of care. We are deeply grateful to Marianna and David Fisher for a gift that will truly make an impact.
