Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital has been recognized as a 2023 Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ recipient by Healthgrades, one of the most popular sites Americans turn to when searching for a doctor or hospital.
This achievement reflects Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital’s outstanding clinical outcomes for outpatient knee and hip replacement and distinguishes them in the top 10% nationwide for outpatient joint replacement.
“This recognition is thanks to our amazing orthopedic team’s dedication and commitment to excellence, ,” said Susan Stacey, Providence Chief Executive of the Inland Northwest. “It is further proof that our care teams are providing some of the best care in the nation, right here in Spokane. I’m so grateful for their dedication.”
For this award, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcomes from 2019-2021 at short-term acute care hospitals throughout the country that offer joint replacement in the outpatient environment.
Healthgrades’s analysis revealed patients who go to hospitals that have received a 2023 Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ are at a much lower risk (50.7% lower) of having complications compared to patients who go to hospitals that didn't receive the award.
Each year, more Americans are opting for outpatient elective procedures, with nearly 500,000 Medicare patients undergoing outpatient hip and knee replacements from 2019-2021, according to Healthgrades. This rating helps people make informed choices about where to go for those procedures.
