At Providence St. Joseph Health, we’ve been on a journey to transform health care and advance our vision of health for a better world. Today, I’m incredibly excited to announce a strategic alliance with Microsoft that will accelerate our path forward. Together, we’ll support doctors, nurses and all our caregivers by equipping them with technology and information that make it easier to do the vitally important work of improving lives. Additionally, we’ll collaborate on solutions that address pressing issues facing providers today.
By enabling PSJH caregivers with an integrated suite of modern collaboration and productivity tools, we aim to create a better experience for patients and the people who care for them. We also intend to harness the power of clinical data and enhance data security. By bringing the right information directly to the point of care, we can better assist clinicians and patients in making well-informed decisions that lead to the best possible health outcomes.
One unique aspect of this partnership is that we share the same backyard - our system office is just a few miles away from Microsoft. Together, we’ll develop a “Next Generation” site of care at a PSJH-affiliated hospital, redesigning portions of the facility and integrating technologies to improve quality, streamline operations and deliver a better experience for our caregivers and patients. The goal is to eventually scale these innovations across our seven-state system and create a model for health systems across the country.
I have often said that when you bring clinicians and technologists together, that’s where the magic happens. This alliance is a great example of that. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella put it, “Our ambition is to accelerate Providence St. Joseph Health’s digital transformation and to build new innovations together that will improve health care delivery and outcomes.”
I share this sentiment whole-heartedly.
By partnering with Microsoft, one of the most innovative companies in the world, we are designing the future of health care and creating innovation that will benefit people everywhere. These are exciting times, and I’ve never been more confident in the future of our organization and our ability to strengthen and extend our Mission for decades to come.
I truly believe we can be the most innovative health system in the country while also being the most compassionate and socially responsible. Partnerships like this one will help us achieve our vision of health for a better world more rapidly, allowing us to give more people a chance to live the healthiest life possible, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
You can learn more about the alliance in this news release, which we are issuing jointly with Microsoft today, and you can keep up on all our news by visiting our newsroom. Thank you to everyone at PSJH for your dedication to our Mission and for all you do to care for our communities.
