KODIAK ISLAND, Alaska – Providence Alaska’s Executive Leadership Team and Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center’s Community Advisory Board have awarded $200,000 in grants to six local organizations to improve identified community health needs in the Kodiak Island community.

Grant amounts ranged from $17,500 to $52,500 and were awarded to:

  • Hospice and Palliative Care of Kodiak;
  • Kodiak KINDNESS (Kodiak Infant Nutrition and Development) Project;

  • Kodiak Island Health Care Foundation.

“These organizations share our commitment to the health and wellness of Kodiak Island,” said Karl Hertz, administrator of Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center. “We value these partnerships and are grateful we can provide grants that can make a difference in the lives of the people in our community.”

The grants were awarded as part of Providence Alaska Foundation’s annual community partnership funding, which provides funds to local service and not-for-profit organizations seeking to address identified community needs on Kodiak Island.

Funding is provided to projects benefiting community health and wellness, with special consideration for proposals demonstrating partnerships and collaboration across organizations and that align with the Providence Mission, core values and commitment to create healthier communities, together.

The CAB is composed of members of the Kodiak Island community who advise Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center’s administration on operating and strategic initiatives.
