Primary Palliative Care in ICU: Barriers, Advances, and Unmet Needs

Presenter: Douglas B. White, M.D., MAS Recorded: April 10, 2018 Series: Goldman-Berland Lectureship in Palliative Medicine There are well documented problems with clinician-family communication and support in ICUs, which may contribute to poor outcomes for patients and families. This presentation will summarize efforts to improve primary palliative care by improving the skills of the inter-professional team in the ICU setting, including a novel intervention recently tested in a large randomized clinical trial.
