Telehealth office visits are now a permanent TRICARE Prime benefit

September 1, 2022 Corey Hammond

Good news! Telehealth services through telephone and video are now permanent benefits. They are covered like a normal office visit. Active-duty family members and retirees with Medicare part B will pay nothing for telephonic or video visits.  All other retirees and their covered family members are responsible for the usual co-pay set by the Department of Defense.

The telehealth cost-share waiver put in place during the pandemic officially expired on July 1, 2022. Claims processed by September 6, 2022, for telehealth services received before July 1, will not have a co-pay. Claims made or reprocessed after September 6 will incur the usual cost-share.

Telehealth can be a convenient option if your provider finds it appropriate. If you have any questions about telehealth or any of your other TRICARE Prime benefits, contact the US Family Health Plan At PacMed Member Services at (800) 585-5883, option 2.
