Celebrating National Hospital Week: A Message to our Caregivers

May 11, 2022 Providence News Team

To Queen of the Valley Caregivers,

In honor of National Hospital Week and I want to take this opportunity to thank you!  More than 100 years ago, the first National Hospital Day was established by U.S. President Warren G. Harding in response to the outbreak of the Spanish flu in 1918. More than a century later, the essential role you play in our community has never been more appreciated.

When I heard this year’s Hospital Week theme is, “We Are Health Care,” it made me think of the song, “We are family”—which is fitting because it takes all of you, working together to deliver exceptional care.  Whether on the front lines directly with patients or are steadfastly operating behind-the-scenes, each of you are critical in ensuring our patients receive the award-winning, compassionate care they deserve and expect when they come to Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

You have remained a steady source of strength and courage for our community members throughout a pandemic that has changed our lives. Throughout it all, you have persevered together with integrity and courage. From rising with the sun to ensure our hospitals are meticulously clean to responding with grace and flexibility to surges of COVID-19 patients, the challenges of the past two years have contributed to the strong, compassionate caregiver you are today.

This week is all about celebration and, as a small token of our appreciation for your service, each of you will receive a gift of a Providence-branded backpack this week. Our hope is that this gift will inspire you to take time away from the hospital and enjoy the great outdoors!
