Covenant Health Expands Advanced Cardiac Care Treatment

Covenant Health is advancing cardiac care with expanded capabilities in its Electrophysiology (EP) lab, bringing new hope to patients with complex heart rhythm disorders. The highly experienced EP team now offers advanced mapping and ablation technology to treat complex atrial fibrillation and atypical atrial flutter, expanding treatment options and improving specialized care.

With the introduction of this innovative technology, Covenant Health’s EP lab successfully treated several patients with challenging arrhythmias. Many of these patients had lived with symptoms for years and, in some cases, had previously undergone ablation procedures without lasting relief.

What makes this advancement especially meaningful for patients is the ability to better understand and treat each individual’s case in a more personalized way. The new system creates a highly detailed and real-time view of the heart’s electrical activity, allowing physicians to clearly pinpoint areas that cause irregular heart rhythms.

Using a single catheter, experts can now deliver both pulse field and radiofrequency energy, allowing physicians to tailor treatment to each patient and expand options for arrhythmias that have traditionally been difficult to treat.

“This advancement is a meaningful step forward in how we care for patients with complex heart rhythm disorders,” said Dr. Raj Ganeshan, electrophysiologist. “It allows us to precisely map the heart and tailor treatment during a single procedure, offering more personalized and effective care. For our community, it means greater access to advanced cardiac care and better long-term outcomes for the patients we serve.”

Covenant Health was the first in West Texas to bring pulse field ablation for atrial fibrillation and is now the first in the region to offer the Medtronic Sphere-9 catheter and Affera Mapping & Ablation System. This continued investment ensures patients across West Texas and eastern New Mexico can access advanced heart care close to home.
