Have you encountered a special nurse during your care? Recognize them with a DAISY Award nomination?
The DAISY Foundation started the DAISY Award to recognize the clinical skills, extraordinary compassion and care exhibited by nurses every day at hospitals like Providence St. Mary Medical Center. It is given to outstanding nurses in more than 2,300 health care facilities, in all 50 states and 15 countries. Nominations also can be made online through the DAISY Foundation.
Providence St. Mary’s most recent recipient of the DAISY Award was Jessie Lyon, RN, who was nominated by a woman having her first baby and experiencing complications. “She had this beautiful calming presence that truly helped me be more calm,” the woman wrote. “… To others reading this, she may just sound like a really good nurse, but to me she is more than that. She went above and beyond her job title. She was my nurse, my emotional support aid, my advocate.”
