A message from Jennifer Burrows, chief executive, Providence Oregon.

This week, more than 150 Providence caregivers – including caregivers at our acute care ministries, Providence Medical Group and Providence Health Plan – are being notified of position eliminations. Most of these are non-clinical positions. We’re supporting all those affected and helping them transition into different roles where possible. However, we know that some will be leaving Providence.

From all of us at Providence, we express our gratitude for the decades of dedication represented by these caregivers.

These reductions reflect our need to stay focused on financial stability and workforce challenges, intensified by recent policy changes and regulatory pressures. While we are seeing progress, our efforts will continue until we balance revenue and expenses. These changes are part of ongoing restructuring across all health systems.

Providence remains committed to thoughtful, transparent decision-making, engaging with our caregivers and other key stakeholders to understand the effects on our community, caregivers and health plan members.

In the midst of these challenging times, we also remain committed to transparency, our Mission, and supporting our community.
