The Redwood Memorial Foundation recently announced the recipients of its 2018 Redwood Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program.
The Redwood Memorial Foundation awards scholarships every year to high school seniors and/or community members in the Eel River Valley, Van Duzen River Valley and Southern Humboldt County communities pursuing careers in nursing, medicine, pharmacy or physical therapy. Students selected for the scholarships demonstrate strong citizenship and leadership skills, and are pursuing health care-related fields at an accredited university, college or technical school.
The recipients of the foundation’s 2018 scholarships include high school students Lisa Werner, who will be majoring in Biochemistry at UCLA; Emma Gans, who will be majoring in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon; and Abigail Clark who will be majoring in Kinesiology at Humboldt State University. Community members include Beatriz Cortes-Garcia, who will be majoring in Nursing at College of the Redwoods; Meredyth Diehlmann, a current employee, who will be studying Applied Health Informatics at the University of Providence; Claudia Vazquez, who will be in the Doctorate of Nursing Program at Loma Linda University; and Tai Mussey, who will be majoring in Nursing at College of the Redwoods.
The Redwood Memorial Foundation dedicates its funds from generous community donors to equipment and service needs, essential programs, health education, scholarships and new program support for Redwood Memorial Hospital.
This year’s scholarship recipients were honored at a luncheon at the Redwood Memorial Foundation’s Board Meeting on May 8, 2018 at Redwood Memorial Hospital.
