U.S. News & World Report’s recognizes hospital’s leading-edge treatments
Following a year of innovation and growth, Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center earned several high performance rankings in this year’s U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospital” awards.
For the 2023-24 award year, treatments for four common procedures and conditions – heart attack, hip replacement, kidney failure and stroke – were recognized as High Performing, meaning they performed in the top 10% of hospitals across the United States. The accolade is the highest award a hospital can earn for treating more prevalent surgical procedures and medical conditions.
“Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our community and ensuring every patient has access to leading-edge procedures and research-backed treatments,” Chief Executive Terry Wooten said. “Congratulations to our physicians, nurses and staff members who made this achievement possible by providing exceptional outcomes in four key service areas.”
The annual Best Hospital ratings, now in their 34th year, are designed to help families make informed decisions about where to receive care for conditions or procedures. For the 2023-24 awards, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions.
Each hospital’s performance is evaluated using a variety of measures such as survival rates, patient experience and nursing care, among others. Fewer than half of all hospitals received any High Performance rating.
Other Providence hospitals recognized by US News & World Report in Northern California were Providence St. Joseph Hospital (Humboldt County) and Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (Sonoma County).
