Providence Redwood Memorial Expands Primary Care Services with Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

September 22, 2025

Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5-7 p.m., to celebrate the expansion of primary care services at Providence Family Practice at 3302 Renner Dr., Fortuna, CA.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting, guided facility tours and refreshments. Community members were invited to attend and learn more about how the expansion is improving access to care in our region.

The expansion is made possible, in part, by the generous donors of the Eel River Valley through the Providence Redwood Memorial Foundation.

“We are grateful to our donors who helped to make this expansion possible. This expansion in service is a reflection of our commitment to meeting the growing primary health care needs of our community,” says Tracye Williams, chief philanthropy officer for Providence Humboldt County. “We’re excited to welcome more patients and provide them with the care they deserve, close to home.”

The expansion is part of Providence’s ongoing mission to improve health outcomes and ensure timely access to care for families across Humboldt County. With increased capacity and resources, Providence Family Practice is positioned to serve more patients and reduce wait times for appointments.

Heather Kelley, manager of Providence Family Practice, emphasized the impact the expansion will have on local families.

“This growth allows us to better meet the needs of our community by increasing appointment availability and enhancing the patient experience,” Kelley said. “We know how important it is for families to receive primary care close by and without long delays. This expansion helps us deliver on that promise.”

Providence remains committed to investing in local health care infrastructure and strengthening access to high-quality, compassionate care in rural communities.
