Margaret M. Horvath to oversee children’s and women’s services at Alaska’s only hospital designed specifically for children

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Margaret M. Horvath, FACHE, has been named executive director of Providence Alaska Children’s Hospital.

In this role, Horvath will oversee children’s and women’s services, which include Mother Baby, Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Alaska CARES and Nurse-Family Partnership.

Horvath’s extensive health care experience includes working with providers to improve patient outcomes, address health care costs and engage in value-based contracting, and project management and contract compliance and oversight.

“I’m excited about the breadth of experience Meg brings to the role to help our children’s hospital continue to grow while continuing to provide the best care possible to the women and children of Alaska,” said Carrie Peluso, DNP, APRN, ACNS-BC, CENP, chief nursing officer of Providence Alaska.

Horvath has been with Providence Alaska since 2019, most recently as the executive director of the Alaska Health Alliance with Providence, the Providence-sponsored clinically integrated network led and governed by community providers. Prior to that she served as manager of provider relations, contracts and network development — a role in which she implemented strategic and business development initiatives for Providence Alaska in collaboration with the organization’s strategy team.

Before joining Providence, Horvath served as director of the medical staff office at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, Louisiana, and in various roles for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and LSU Healthcare Network. She also completed an administrative fellowship at Houston Methodist. Horvath is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the board of its Alaska Chapter.

Horvath earned her Master of Health Administration from Tulane University in New Orleans and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in business administration from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina.
