Lung Cancer Screening Saves Lives

April 30, 2025

We know that finding out you have cancer can be scary. But what if we told you it could help save your life?

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths for both men and women, and it is often diagnosed long after there is a chance for lifesaving treatment. At Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, we’re working to fix that.

Our lung cancer screening program is designed to identify cancerous nodules in the lungs at earlier stages. Because if the cancer is found at an earlier stage, when it is small and before it has spread, it’s more likely to be treated successfully.

What is a lung screening?

Lung screening uses a low-dose CT scan to look for signs of cancer, such as spots or growths. It is covered by most insurance plans.

Who should get a lung screening?

Adults between 50 and 80 years of age who:

  • Have smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years - currently or within the last 15 years.
  • Have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer.

How do I get screened?

  • If you qualify, your doctor can order the screening. A physician’s referral is required.
  • If you don’t have a physician, call our nurse navigator at 818-748-4763.

Get peace of mind. Schedule a lung cancer screening today.
