NAPA, Calif. (Jan. 14, 2026)  Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center’s Maternity Center recently earned a spot on Cal Hospital Compare’s Maternity Care Honor Roll, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to supporting safe births and healthy outcomes for the third year in a row

“I am incredibly proud of our talented doctors, nurses and caregivers who welcome nearly 800 babies into the world every year,” said Amy Herold, M.D., OB/GYN, chief administrative officer and chief medical officer at Queen of the Valley. “This honor reflects the world-class care we provide new mothers and babies during one of life’s most special moments.”

In total, 82 of the 198 hospitals that submitted data to California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative’s Maternal Data Center were recognized on the 2025 Maternity Care Honor Roll.

Queen of the Valley was one of 54 honor roll recipients that achieved “Superior” performance for surpassing statewide targets for all five of the following key maternal health measures:

  • C-section rate in first-time mothers with low-risk pregnancies (NTSV C-Section rate)

  • Surgical site infection after a C-section

  • Vaginal birth after a C-section (also known as a VBAC)

  • Episiotomy

  • Early elective deliveries prior to 39 weeks gestational age

Queen of the Valley, which offers the only labor and delivery unit in Napa County, is renowned for its high-quality maternity care; the hospital earned a “High Performing” recognition from U.S. News and World Report last month for the second consecutive year.
