Kadlec unveils second robotic surgical system

June 9, 2023 Providence News Team

Thanks to the generous support of our community, Kadlec Regional Medical Center recently added a second robotic surgical system. This will double the number of patients who are able to benefit from the technology, which uses smaller surgical incisions, allowing for faster recoveries and fewer complications.

A total of $2 million was raised through community contributions to the Kadlec Foundation and the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation to purchase the da Vinci Surgical System. The technology is used for a range of urologic, colorectal, gynecological and general surgeries.  Kadlec purchased its first da Vinci in 2012, and last year performed around 750 surgeries.

The addition of the second robotic surgical system will reduce wait times and allow more people from our area to stay closer to home for their procedures. High demand for the device has meant that in the past some people have had to travel to medical centers in Seattle or Spokane to benefit from robotic surgery.
