Donor Spotlight: Kiemle Hagood

Kiemle Hagood, a commercial real estate company headquartered in Spokane, has been a Providence market-level sponsor since 2017, but its ties to Providence go back to the 1970s. One of the company’s first major assignments was being hired by Sister Peter Claver to work on the conversion and leasing of the two remaining wings of the former Sacred Heart Hospital building, turning them into what is now the Sacred Heart Doctor’s Building. That began a business relationship that continues to this day.

Kiemle Hagood manages over 7 million square feet of office, retail, medical office, industrial and general commercial space, as well as 1,100 multi-family units, nearly 900 of which are providing homes for low-income citizens. They have offices located in Spokane, Coeur d’ Alene, Kennewick and Missoula. Their business may be real estate, but the company is passionate about community, which makes them an ideal philanthropic partner.

As a market-level sponsor, Kiemle Hagood supports Providence foundations in Spokane, Walla Walla and Missoula, as well as Kadlec Foundation, in Richland. According to Larry Soehren, president and CEO, “We support Providence not only because we do business with them, but because we believe in the mission and the value that they bring to the communities in which they are located.”

Kiemle Hagood gives to Providence not only in dollars, but in time. During the company’s early years, founder Jerry Hagood was the board chair at Holy Family Hospital when it was still being run by the Dominican sisters, and he eventually held the same role at Providence. Larry has served on the Providence Health Care Community Ministry Board since 2015 and served in various Foundation roles dating back to 1994. Gordon Hester, Kiemle Hagood vice president, currently sits on the Providence Health Care Foundation Board.

“We recognize that health care is an economic driver throughout our entire region,” says Larry. “We’re pleased to support the work that Providence is doing to not only provide world-class medical care, but also offer compassionate care to the most poor and vulnerable in our communities.”
