Cleft Lip and Palate Services Update

August 21, 2026

Providence Saint John’s Health Center has made the decision to transition away from providing elective pediatric cleft lip and palate surgeries requiring hospitalization and the multidisciplinary services associated with this care.

As standards of care continue to evolve, children requiring cleft surgery are best served in pediatric specialty centers with comprehensive pediatric services, specialized clinical expertise and inpatient capabilities.

Providence Saint John’s remains committed to supporting patients and families through a thoughtful transition that prioritizes continuity of care, coordination and access to appropriate resources.

Families with questions may contact cleftpalatecenter@providence.org or call 310-829-8697 for support with records, referrals or transition-related information.
