Celebrating National Nurses Week

May 10, 2022 Providence News Team

To our Northern California nurses,

Today is National Nurses Day! We want to share what an honor it is to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team of nurses. Thank you to all of our nurses for the personal sacrifices you have made to ensure our community members receive the care they need.

To honor National Nurses Week (May 6-12), the American Nurses Association selected the evergreen theme, Nurses Make a Difference, to honor nurses and their positive impact on our lives. Throughout the pandemic and numerous COVID-19 surges, our nurses have always been there for us when we need them the most. Words cannot express how grateful we are for their commitment and compassionate care.

We recognize that nurses are responsible for some of the most challenging and heartbreaking assignments in health care. From holding the hand of a senior patient in their last moments to providing support and guidance to new parents leaving the hospital with their new baby for the first time, our nurses are a steady source of strength and comfort for our patients and their loved ones. Nurses, you dedicate your lives to caring for others and we want you to know we are standing behind you and are here to listen and be an advocate whenever you need support.

Nurses, we are excited to celebrate you at activities that have been planned at each of our hospitals. We are proud of you, and look forward to celebrating with you. Thank you for your healing presence, and for your dedication to improving the health and well-being of our neighbors.

Sincerely,

Dan Kelly, Northern California Regional Chief Nursing Officer & Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Santa Rosa Memorial
Roberta “Berta” Kaemmerling, Nursing Director, Healdsburg Hospital
Phillip Maddux, Chief Nursing Officer, Humboldt County
Sarah Park, Nursing Director, Redwood Memorial Hospital
Ed Price, Chief Nursing Officer, Queen of the Valley Medical Center
Wendi Thomas, Nursing Director, Petaluma Valley Hospital
