A transformative gift from Phil and Penny Knight is opening new possibilities in heart care for patients across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
The Knights have made a second $75 million philanthropic investment to Providence — bringing their total giving to nearly $200 million over the past decade — to expand and strengthen care at Providence Heart Institute and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Their latest gift builds on earlier investments that helped establish Providence Heart Institute as a regional and national leader in cardiac care, including the certification of its heart transplant program and the creation of a new inpatient heart hub at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
This new philanthropic investment will also expand resources, tools, people, programs and facilities, ensuring patients across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest can live longer and healthier lives.
For patients and families, this effect is tangible: Faster diagnosis, more treatment options, smoother transitions between care teams and access to leading‑edge therapies without leaving the region.
Tens of thousands of patients will benefit each year from this commitment to care.
Providence is deeply grateful to Phil and Penny Knight for their continued partnership and belief in being the best place to give and receive care. Their generosity is not just an investment in buildings or programs — it’s an investment in our communities.
