MISSION HILLS (Oct. 30, 2023) - Providence Holy Cross Medical Center earned national awards recently in five specialties and received a total of 14 Healthgrades awards for successful procedures and treatment of a range of health conditions.
The Mission Hills hospital was named among the top 10% in the nation for cardiology services and for coronary interventional services, the latter for the second consecutive year.
Additionally, Providence Holy Cross was recognized for critical care excellence for the seventh consecutive year, cranial neurosurgery (3 years,) stroke treatment (9 years) and performance in pulmonology (6 years) and gastrointestinal care.
Earlier this year, Healthgrades honored Providence Holy Cross for the fourth straight year as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals, which recognizes the top 1 percent of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance across the most common conditions and procedures. The hospital also earned Healthgrades’ 2023 Safely Excellence Award for the second year, which recognizes the top 10% of hospitals nationwide.
“These awards are a recognition of our amazing doctors, nurses, clinicians and all the staff behind the scenes who do everything from running our computers to serving our patients’ meals to ensuring Holy Cross is clean and safe,” said Bernie Klein, M.D., chief executive. “Together they have created a culture of excellence, but most importantly, our community and patients benefit from incredible care!”
Healthgrades, a leading consumer health website, evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most, patient outcomes, the Healthgrades ratings provide critical feedback for both patients and hospitals.
By offering easy access to objective performance measures, Healthgrades gives consumers the information they need to find a hospital that excels in providing the care they need. And, by shining a light on strengths and weaknesses, the Healthgrades ratings help direct hospitals to opportunities for clinical improvement.
The 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top performers.
“Healthgrades congratulates Providence Holy Cross Medical Center for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate the quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success. We commend Providence Holy Cross for its dedication to excellence in patient care.”
