Polson, MT, Sept. 28– To celebrate the new Rural Health Clinic at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, hospital leaders, current and past caregivers, donors and community members will gather for a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at 6 13th Ave. E., in Polson (east of the Boys & Girls Club).
Generous donors to St. Joe’s Critical Access Campaign funded its construction, which got underway in summer 2025. Patient visits will begin Oct. 5, 2026.
The Clinic is the first step in a multi-phase campus expansion project to improve healthcare access and services in the Flathead and Mission Valleys. The Rural Health Clinic will double access to primary care in the region, and referrals from those appointments will connect patients to St. Joe’s pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics and OB-GYN services. By extending continuity of care close to home, the clinic is designed to break down barriers and increase access to vital care.
The Rural Health Clinic accommodates seven primary care physicians, five behavioral health providers and two pediatricians. Efficiency was built into the design of 26 new exam rooms and private workspaces. Combining comprehensive services in one location reduces barriers for families seeking the care they need.
The Rural Health Clinic is the first phase of the $26 million project to advance healthcare in the region, ensuring exceptional care is available close to home. The next phase will include:
· Re-imagined emergency department: Designed to respond to urgent needs with safety, speed and compassion, the emergency department will address the rising need for behavioral health and substance use support.
· Innovative MRI suite: Located inside the hospital, this suite will elevate the patient experience and enhance diagnostic capabilities.
To date, donors have contributed $17.5 million toward the campaign’s $18 million fundraising goal, which will ensure completion of the final phase of this project. Each gift is a display of incredible commitment from the community in support of Providence’s Mission of serving all, especially those who are vulnerable.
