Richland, Wash. – Patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer now have an easier option when it comes to coordinating their care. Kadlec Clinic, in partnership with the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, has launched a Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic (MBCC) held at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
The process is simple. Any positive cancer pathology triggers an opportunity for a physician to refer their patient to the MBCC. During the patient’s appointment at the clinic, the patient will meet with the entire cancer care team – breast surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and a nurse navigator.
The breast cancer team of specialists develop a coordinated plan for care during the visit. This approach provides the timeliest pathway to treatment so patients can have confidence in knowing the highest level of care is being recommended, coordinated and delivered.
In addition to knowing all the options have been explored, the patient is also offered a wealth of resources from comfort items and services to rehabilitation and emotional support.
Physician leaders in this effort are Dr. Sue Mandell, radiation oncologist with Tri-Cities Cancer Center; Dr. Eric Gamboa, medical oncologist and hematologist with Kadlec Clinic; Dr. Rangaswamy Chintapatla, medical oncologist and hematologist with Kadlec Clinic; Dr. John Droesch, breast surgeon with Kadlec Clinic; and Dr. Ying Zhou, medical oncologist and hematologist with Kadlec Clinic.
