Richland, WA—Kadlec Regional Medical Center has again earned the highest grade possible for quality and safety by the Leapfrog Group, which recently announced the fall, 2018 scores. The bi-annual grading assigns “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” and “F” letter grades to general acute-care hospitals in the U.S.
“Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like Kadlec, which focuses on advancing patient safety. This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”
Kadlec is one of 11 hospitals in the state of Washington (including Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla) to earn an “A” grade. “This is a direct reflection on the unwavering commitment of our Kadlec caregivers who are dedicated to our mission of providing safe, compassionate care,” said Reza Kaleel, chief administrative officer at Kadlec. “This Leapfrog “A” grade validates the commitment throughout Kadlec to serve the needs of our patients.”
Of the approximately 2,600 hospitals graded across the country, 32 percent earned an “A,” 24 percent earned a “B,” 37 percent a “C,” six percent a “D” and less than one percent an “F”.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. It is updated every six months, once in the fall and once in the spring.
