COVID-19 U.S. cases: A new daily update from the CDC

 

The CDC announced plans to provide a daily update for COVID-19 cases across the U.S. While not real-time, the CDC plans to offer daily data updates based on inputs at 4 p.m. the day prior. The CDC will work with health partners across the states to get the most up-to-date numbers on a daily and weekly basis.  Learn more here. 

Some fast facts about what's happening in the U.S.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in the U.S. exceed 300,000 (see chart below)
  • Total deaths from COVID-19 are approaching 7,000
  • Travel-related cases reported to the CDC = ~1,400
  • Cases caused by close contact reported to the CDC = more than 4,000.

(the bulk of cases - more than 233,000 - are still under investigation to determine the cause)
